An enormous benefit of homeschooling your children is the ability to teach health your way. So many important aspects of taking care of our bodies are skipped or glossed over in traditional health classes. When you are your child’s teacher, you have the freedom to encourage them to truly explore all of the ways we can work to keep our bodies in tip top shape.
The usage of natural plant oils is one of the most effective methods of maintaining our good health, yet is rarely taught in schools, and is something every child — and adult — should have the opportunity to experience and investigate. The Center for Aromatherapy Research and Education (CARE) offers in-depth education about the use of essential oils for health benefits, and can be a truly eye opening and aromatic experience for all attendees.
Currently, and through Saturday, The Loop is hosting an amazing CARE event taught by homeschooling Dad, Curtis Eastin. This particular event is an intensive program held over the course of three days and includes lessons in Raindrop Technique, Vitaflex (Vitality through the Reflexes), Healing Oils in Ancient Literature, The Chemistry of Essential Oils, and Emotional Release Technique. Raindrop Technique is a powerful bodywork method using essential oils that was developed by D. Gary Young, founder of Young Living Essential Oils, in the 1980s. It combines several modalities to bring balance and transformation. It also supports body systems on a physical and emotional level.
So far, families have learned a lot about the workings of their bodies. Every participant will leave with new tools for enhancing their own good health, along with scientific research to help understand how essential oils work. Even children can use the techniques and information learned in these classes, and the information gathered during the workshop can often be used to drastically “move their health above the wellness line” both in and out of class.
During CARE classes, students of all ages are given lessons in organic and biological chemistry which help them understand the difference between the natural oils and laboratory created chemicals — also known as drugs — and their effects on the human body.
Today they also received some fun lessons in history — including some of the interesting and amazing ways people have used oils in the past — throughout the class. For example, in ancient times Egyptians used to wear cakes of hippopotamus fat mixed with myrrh oil on their heads. Throughout the day, the fat would melt and disperse aromatic myrrh onto the body. This provided protection for the skin, repelled annoying pests and also provided spiritual and emotional benefits.
Another aspect of this particular class is that one young homeschooled participant is running his own business- the book and DVD table. Ezra Eastin offers titles in overall health and wellbeing that CARE recommends as part of its curricula, such as Quantum Physics: Essential Oils and the Mind-Body Connection, Healing Oils of the Bible, and The Chemistry of Essential Oils Made Simple by Dr. David Stewart. Other CARE texts include: Essential Oils in Animal Care by Sarah Reagan, The Biology of Belief by Dr. Bruce Lipton, Feelings Buried Alive Never Die by Karol Truman, Heal Your Body by Louise Hay, and Molecules of Emotion by the brilliant Dr. Candace Pert.
