Irish Dance and Theater
The Director of the Oklahoma Academy of Irish Dance and youth theater director, Chelsea Gonzales is excited to bring her passions to the people of The Loop! Chelsea is an Oklahoma native and was home schooled for all of middle school and high school. She spent her years as a home schooled student immersing herself in the world of the arts and happily remains in that world to this day.
Chelsea discovered her love for Irish dancing at the age of 12. She quickly worked her way to the championship Irish dance level and took up assistant teaching soon after. In 2007, at age 19, she opened the Oklahoma Academy of Irish Dance. Students of OAID perform at festivals and events all over Oklahoma and across the US.
Mrs. Gonzales has been involved in all aspects of theater since she was 4 years old. Some of her favorite roles include Echo in Eleemosynary, Tiger Lily in Peter Pan, and Maisie La-Bird in Seussical. When she was 15, Chelsea founded Oklahoma Youth Theater Project, which gave kids the chance to be involved in all aspects of producing a show. Under OYTP she directed several shows including 12 Dancing Princesses, Snow White, and her personal favorite, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.
Chelsea is wife to her wonderful supportive husband Chris and momma to her clever boy Brendon, whom she plans to home school when the time comes. Contact Chelsea at firstname.lastname@example.org.
